Eco-efficient logistic networks within product life cycles
نویسندگان
چکیده
Logistics serves for the planning, control, and monitoring of material flows in the supply, the production, and the distribution of commodities as well as in the disposal of waste. It is an essential element of any product’s life cycle. Always being focused on is the increase of efficiency with regard to economy, quality, and service. However, efficiency in total is nowadays examined under the aspect of sustainability. The Bundesvereinigung Logistik (BVL) e. V. (German Federal Association for Logistics) recently asked the protagonists in the logistics industry to think about realizing sustainable measures. In this context, the Bundesverband Deutscher Postdienstleister (BvDP) e. V. (German Federal Association of Postal Service Providers) discussed strategies for the efficient use of resources in the field of courier, express, and postal services (CEP services). Freight forwarders, trade enterprises but also waste disposal enterprises are currently checking the increase of the environmental compatibility of their logistic services (so DHL and Triaz – a mail order firm – developed the »Grünes Paket (green parcel)«, Otto-Versand – also a mail order firm – significantly decreased costs and environmental impacts by its environmental strategy, etc.). In the focus are also methods to increase the economic and ecological efficiency of complex logistic networks by means of location and allocation planning.

متن کاملEco-Efficient Product Design Using Theory of Inventive Problem Solving (TRIZ) Principles
Problem statement: In recent years, much attention has been focused on the eco-efficiency of product development. The majority of environmental decisions are only made in the later stages of product development where not much modification can be done. To produce eco-efficient products, environmental decisions ought to be considered in the early stages of product development. With the demand of ...
متن کاملAn Eco-architecture Based Approach for Supporting Design for Disassembly
* Corresponding author: [email protected] Abstract The end-of-life (EOL) disassembly is an important process in the product retirement stage. In order to improve the ease of disassembly, it is essential to design a product which can be easily disassembled. In this paper, a novel concept of eco-architecture is introduced and a method for analyzing the eco-architecture of a product at the configura...

Design of products permits to yield goods and services to produce satisfaction on customers, which is measured as value. However, it is at this stage in which most of the environmental impact, from a lifecycle perspective, is added to the product. Eco-design aims at increasing value of products while reducing the burdens on the environment by means conscious design towards efficient use of reso...
